Meet Lauren
Lauren Adam
Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), MACP, she/her
Hi there! I’m Lauren, a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and the owner of Back to Good Psychotherapy. My journey to becoming a therapist wasn’t exactly linear, but helping others has always been at the heart of who I am.
From spending recess volunteering with children with disabilities to supporting student mental health in university wellness centers, and later working in community mental health with folks navigating complex substance use disorders—I’ve always been drawn to creating meaningful connections.
As a former competitive athlete from the age of 7, I know firsthand the pressures of high performance, perfectionism, and navigating mental blocks. That’s why I have a special passion for supporting athletes and high achievers. I love blending my understanding of mental health and sports.
What truly fuels me as a therapist is the incredible courage and resilience I witness every day. And yes, I’m a therapist who goes to therapy myself, so I understand how nerve-racking it can feel to show up and do the work. When I’m not supporting clients, you can find me running, exploring trendy cafes, devouring my latest Kindle read, or getting outside in any way possible.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)/Parts Work
Have you ever felt like different parts of you are pulling in opposite directions? That’s where parts work, or Internal Family Systems (IFS), can help. This approach helps you explore and understand the different “parts” of yourself—like the part that feels anxious or the part that wants to avoid conflict—so you can find balance & self-compassion.
-
Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Life can be tough, and ACT helps you build the tools to face those challenges with greater self-compassion and flexibility. It focuses on helping you accept what’s out of your control, connect with your values, and take meaningful steps toward a life that feels fulfilling and authentic.
-
Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT)
EFT focuses on helping you understand and express your emotions in a way that strengthens your relationships. Whether it’s with a partner, family member, or yourself, this approach helps you feel more connected, secure, and supported.
-
Somatic therapy
Hey fellow athletes - this one might be for you! Your body holds onto stress and emotions, sometimes even more than your mind does. Somatic therapy helps you tune into your physical sensations to release tension, process emotions, and feel more connected to your body. It’s a powerful way to approach healing from the inside out.
Get to know me!
During the pandemic, I moved to Whistler, BC, became a snow bum and snowboarded nearly every day.
I have always had a passion for sports. I was a competitive gymnast during my early years, but I’ve also competed in soccer, swimming, cross-country, track & field, and triathlons.
My dream? To live on a farm, raise a family, and care for some chickens.
I love slow mornings, cooking with my partner, and absolutely crushing my family & friends in yard games ;)
